In the high mountains of Meghalaya state, there is a beautiful place known as Mawlynnong, which had no roads and walking was the only option left for it’s 500 inhabitants until 2003. Hence, no tourist used to visit this place which is still home for the Khasi tribe staying in the rare matrilineal society, where property and wealth are passed on from the mother to her youngest daughter. The most fascinating thing is that, children take their mother’s surname. This is one characteristic of this village, but in the recent years, this village has become famous for another reason as it gained the title, "Asia's cleanest village".

The world is going to face the oldest and greatest problem of the water scarcity. Whole world is now not paying proper attention to the severity of water crisis and water pollution problem. This negligence can cost a lot in upcoming days when, contaminated water can make life on earth miserable and difficult. Even today, 748 million people do not have access to improved and safe source of drinking water and the worst affected are the poor, the disadvantaged and women. The world is set to face a 40% per cent shortfall in water supplies by 2030 due to urbanisation, pressures of food production, population growth and the increasing demand from the manufacturing, domestic and energy sector, said the United Nations. It has been been said that till 2050, global water demand is projected to increase by 55%, this is because growing demands from manufacturing, thermal electricity generation and domestic use and the world will have to produce 60 percent more food and the another worry fact is global water demand for industry which predicted to increase by 400 per cent. This situation has arise due to rapidly increasing population concentrating at particular areas inducing excess of the pressure on the currently available water resources. There are also some drought prone and less rainfall observing areas where lack of rain causes only limited water resources. Other possibilities are water pollution and water contamination which does not allow people to consume water as, it encourages epidemic of the water borne diseases. That is the reason why water analysis from water testing laboratory can be really helpful to fight against these diseases. The main purpose of performing water testing is to confirm the presence or absence of pathogenic bacteria, micro-organisms, toxic elements, pesticides and volatile organic compounds. All of these are water pollutant which not only affect the water quality but also, makes water inappropriate for drinking. This inturn causes severe problem as though water resources are available still, their water cannot be used as it is not suitable for drinking. This causes water crisis and scarcity.
The growing population across the world in both urban as well as rural areas will need 70% more energy and water is required. The report recommends a host of measures to limit water insecurity and key among them include increasing the subsidy to renewable energy and limiting thermal power stations as thermal energy consumes a great deal of water. If several steps for augmentation, conservation and efficient management of water resources can be undertaken by water saving related organizations then, it will definitely help to solve water a major issue of water crisis. Cervical cancer is the leading cause of death cases due to gynecological tumors with a mortality of over 60%. It has been observed that nearly 80% of deaths due to cervical cancer occur in undeveloped regions. Unfortunately, these numbers tend to be higher in low as well as middle income countries where lack of timely detection and prevention end up into late diagnosis in non-curable stages. Though cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancer, unawareness about it the biggest troubling factor today.
